Just when I thought my holidays might end even boring, my grandparents showed up in their car on my last exam. I was totally hyped. They opted to smuggle me in their car to Madurai.
Tagging along the ladies (my mum and my grandma) during their shopping was more fun than leaving me abandoned outside a temple. During one of our random visit to the Meenakshi Amman Kovil, I wasn’t allowed in because I wore shorts -_-. So my mum thought it would be fun to leave me outside the temple – penniless, barefooted with zero balance on my phone. Although I have to say I did enjoy looking at foreigners who easily got in, while I sat out listening to sad music. It’s not everyday you see a girl in shorts sitting outside the temple with earphones plugged in at Madurai at least.
Back at my grandparents’ house, the rant that goes between my grandparents on a daily basis was music to my ears. I’m not being rude, but it cracks me up every time.
I visited Rajapalayam to see my niece, who wouldn’t share her toys. Problems of being a single child I’d say. I’m good at making friends, but this 4-year old was one tough cookie. So I tried to grab her toys and make her cry. I’m real mature right? End of the day, we had a great time playing with her elephant and duck.
I reached Chennai the next week.
I stayed over at my uncle’s place, cause we made huge plans for the weekend. It turned out well. The Saturday was over, with glee written all over my face. Sunday was a drag. My mum and dad were highly focused on prepping my brother for his first trip to Australia to visit my cousins alone. He was bombarded with so many instructions, Dos and Don’ts. My little boy is growing up.
Monday morning it was. All of us reached the airport at 9.30am. Then there it was – The Awkward silence. I had to break the ice and say, ‘Don’t have too much fun without me’. My mum gave him the most awkwardest hug ever know and my dad, trying pat him or something. I bid him goodbye. My parents were trying to see him until he got through the security check-up. You know, just in case he doesn’t clear it. Who am I kidding? He’s not a badass like me :P. I think my mum teared up, but I chose not to dwell not it.
The next day, I wake up, fighting fever. This ‘getting sick’ is starting to become a habit that’s hard to let go. I just heard the plans I made for the week shatter. But on a more serious note, I did not eat ice creams at mid-night this time.
